Pattaya's location at the top of the Gulf of Bangkok and the influence of the sea gives it a different climate to the rest of Thailand. The climate in Pattaya doesn't have large variations in temperature, with the average being 29°C (84°F) and sunshine for most of the year. However, there are three distinct seasons, the ‘cool', the 'hot' and the 'rainy'.

The best time to visit Pattaya is during the cool season (November until the end of February), which despite its name still averages temperatures of 30°C (90°F) during the day and above 20°C at night. The weather at this time is tropical and humid and perfect for spending time on the Pattaya beach.

The hot season (from the end of February until June) sees the weather really warm up in Pattaya and it is especially unpleasant during April and June. The temperature can get up to 40°C (104°F) and the extreme humidity can make it seem even hotter. Unless you love the heat and spend all your time in the water it's not the best time for your Pattaya travel.

Although it doesn't get the full effects of the southwest monsoon felt by the rest of the country, Pattaya still gets its fair share of rain during the rainy season (May until September). The rain tends to come in hour-long downpours, and rarely lasts all day. The temperatures tend to stay in the low 30's (90°F) by day and night with high humidity. Mosquitoes can also be a problem at this time.
